This section is designed to address the on-going needs of the charity to find suitable volunteers to perform valuable jobs in specific areas. Below you will find the current 'Wish List' and an email address, should you be in a position to help. Simply send us an email stating what type of help you are able to offer, and any specific previous experience that you may have had. Your email will then be forwarded to the appropriate contact, who will be in touch with you. If you can include a telephone contact number in your email response, that would be very helpful. Thanks.
Calling All You Budding Seamstresses...
We are looking for volunteers who have the time and the expertise to make kennel coats for the dogs in Devon. At this time of year our dogs in kennels need to have nice thick coats to help them stay warm and cosy while they wait for their forever home. Many of our rescued hounds come to us severely underweight so keeping them warm is essential. Some of the nicest kennel coats that we have got have been lovingly hand-made. They also tend to last longer than some of the more mass produced coats that are on the market. If you can spare some time to either repair damaged coats or by make us some new ones, we would love to hear from you!
Cat Testing in Devon...
We are looking for volunteers, preferably living within a 15 mile radius of Honiton, to help us with cat testing dogs who are ready to be rehomed. Full training will be given. Own dog-friendly cat and car essential! Please call for more information.
Fundraising & Awarenessraising in Devon...
We would love to hear from anyone who lives in Devon, has a passion for tall, skinny dogs and who feels that they can offer us help in some way. With our help could you arrange an event, street collection, coffee morning, jumble sale, quiz night or dog show - or do you have any other great fundraising or awareness ideas? If so please contact us!
Raising Awareness in ALL Areas...
To assist us in getting the word about GRWE's work spread as far and wide as possible, in an effort to find homes for our dogs, we need people in ALL geographical areas, to put up posters in Pet Shops, Veterinary Surgeries and elsewhere.

Coats Needed...
We badly need some greyhound coats to keep our dogs warm and snug! Waterproof ones are best of course, but we are grateful for any coats which you might be able to donate. We can also make use of collars, leads, and any muzzles which you might not need, so please take any items along to any of our GRWE events, or contact enquiries@grwe.com to find out the best way of getting them to us.
Agility Equipment...
The Somerset kennels are looking for a kind benefactor to donate some agility equipment! We would love our dogs to have some extra stimulation whilst in kennels waiting for their forever homes to come along, so if someone has some agility equipment, which they no longer want, we would be delighted to receive it. Thanks.
East Devon Home Checkers Needed...
Home checkers needed in East Devon, particularly in the Exmouth area. Full training will be given, but knowledge of greyhounds/sighthounds would be preferred. If you can assist with this, please email with details of the area you can help with: enquiries@grwe.com
Help in Gloucestershire Needed...
A willing volunteer is required to put up posters in and around the Gloucester area to help advertise our dogs looking for homes. If you know of a pet shop or vets where a poster could be placed, in the Gloucester area ~ or indeed in any other area ~ please email us: enquiries@grwe.com, and some will be sent to you.
Helpers for Hereford & Worcestershire Area Events...
Helpers are needed for all activities on our Eventspage, but in particular the Three Counties Show & the How Caple Court show. If you can lend your support to help with these or any other events, please email: enquiries@grwe.com. Thank you.

Display Board Photographs and Stories...
We are in the process of updating our display board material and would love to hear from you if you have some photographs of your rescued hound, which you would like us to use. Please include a rescue story to accompany the pictures so that you can tell the world how you changed your dogs life, and possibly how he or she has changed your life too! Please forward your submissions to the address below. You can either send original photographs (which will be returned to you, please include a self addressed SAE) or you can scan the images and send them on a CD. Either way be sure to include your articles with the photographs.

Transport Assistance Wanted...
We need to develop a transport network between South Devon (Newton Abbot)/Somerset and Hereford (Ledbury) kennels to allow us to move dogs between the kennels.
Help with transport is needed on a regular basis to run between our kennels in Hereford and Gordano services on the M5 near Bristol. A GRWE van is available for use on these trips. This is a regular route for us, so extra pairs of hands are needed to share the load!

Southern Home Checkers Needed...
Home checkers needed in Somerset in the following areas ~ Portishead, Nailsea, Chew Valley/Wrington area, Radstock area, Bridgwater, Glastonbury, Langport - Somerton area.
We are also in need of home checkers in the Gloucester/ Hereford and Worcester areas.

Event Co-ordinator for Gloucestershire...
The Gloucester Team are actively looking for a person to fill the Events
Co-Ordinator role within the area. Fundraising Events such as Shows and
Street Collections, and one of the Charity's key functions, and The Gloucester
Team are keen to maximise on the successes they have had so far, and
build up their list of functions and events. An event co-ordinator is
needed to help set this up. Tasks will include dealing with the administration
of applying for events, and making contact with other volunteers to ensure
the event is well staffed. This role can be done at a distance, and there
will of course be no requirement for you to attend every event!
It goes without saying that help is needed to run these events too! Do
you have a greyhound who would like to be "out and about" greeting
the public and promoting the suitability of greyhounds as pets? Can you
spare an hour or so of your time to tell the public how wonderful your
dog is? We have a number of new events being planned in the Gloucester

Cheshire Transport Help Needed...
Cheshire area volunteers are looking for someone to help with transporting their dogs from kennels to GRWE events around the Cheshire area.
Someone who lives in North Staffs, relatively near to the kennels, would be best, otherwise the difficulties of getting a dog to the event and back in the same day are just too great, owing to the distances involved. This will help our dogs get “out and about” and increase their chances of finding a home. Raising the Profile in Shropshire...
We have a strong fundraising and awareness base in Shropshire and are looking for volunteers to swell our numbers in the Shropshire area. The team are active fundraisers and hand in hand with this of course comes an awareness of the work we do with rescuing hounds.
