GRWE Sponsored Events Calendar...

So many people are doing sponsored events for us at the moment we think there must be something in the air. We are delighted of course and it is wonderful that they all have set up JustGiving pages - it's the easiest way to support them in reaching their fundraising targets so please sponsor them today!

And there's nothing pedestrian in their choices of how to raise funds for us - events range from swimming to an exotic Inca Trail, from a sponsored tattoo to a long hike in the Pennines. Even one of our own Trustees is getting involved!

And don't forget - YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

Just email enquiries@grwe.com if you are in need of ideas or have a sponsored event planned. Good Luck everyone!

Pounds for Hounds Sponsored Slim...

January 2008

Katrine is doing a sponsored slim in aid of GRWE until the end of January. We think this shows great commitment as it takes in all the feasting that comes with Christmas and New Year!!

Rosie and Leah, Katrine's two GRWE girls, are being supportive but not very helpful as they are both very lazy and very slim. Click here to visit her fundraising page.

Sponsored Swim 2008...

January 2008 Katherine will be doing a sponsored swim in January 2008, which must be hard after the Christmas feasting. Katherine used to be a long distance swimmer so she's certainly chosen the right element for her sponsored event! A keen supporter of GRWE, we are thrilled she's decided to do yet another thing to help us. We all wish her great success and Good Luck! Click here to visit her fundraising page and give your support.

Walking The INCA Trail For Greyhounds...

January 2008 Amelia & Pete Hanratty, long-standing supporters of GRWE, are going to Peru over Christmas and will be walking the Inca Trail in aid of GRWE! Their spectacular trail will cover 40 kilometers at almost 4,000 metres above sea level and take 4 days. Surely one of the more adventurous ways to burn of the turkey and mince pie calories! Naturally, we are delighted they chose to do this in aid of us and the dogs we help rescue and rehome. Click here to sponsor them and raise funds for GRWE - thanks.

Cardiff Half Marathon 2007...

14 October 2007

Proving that there really must be something in the air Vanessa, one of our Trustees, is running in the Cardiff Half Marathon 2007 on 14th October 2007 to raise funds for GRWE. Eddie, her beautiful black greyhound came from us and has been sharing racing tips and directing training - mostly from the comfort of his sofa. Click here to support Vanessa. Go Vanessa!!

Cardiff Marathon Update: Vanessa has done it! And this is what she said afterwards: 'I completed the race !!!! Took me 2hrs 27 mins so I was really pleased as it's my first ever race.

I think there were about 8,000 runners, we started at 9am from the City Hall and finished in the Castle in Cardiff. Good weather, great atmosphere and quite a few charity runners in fancy dress. We ran around the city, down to the docks and across the barrage, past the Millennium Stadium and Millennium Hall/Centre so we took in some great sights.

I raised over £600, most of it online, and the website was brilliant! It was a really great way to get people to sponsor me, especially those friends and family that don't live nearby.

I've now 'got the bug' and hope to improve my time at another run next year. Knowing that I was running for charity kept me going during my 10 weeks of training and if I can do it, anyone can so I hope that I have inspired others!!!!'

Pennine Way Walk...

October 2007

Rupert is a very strapping and super-fit GRWE dog who very much enjoys the great outdoors. For his latest adventure he has enlisted Claire and Tracy on a 15 mile hike over two days along the Pennine Way. Click here to visit his fundraising page and support 'Team Rupert'!

Claire's Gone Completely Mad...

September 2007

Claire's three dogsThese three gorgeous hounds found a loving home with Claire through GRWE and she has decided to do an unusual and brave thing to raise money to support our work. Here is what she says:

Hi everyone. Just to let you know that I have gone completely mad and am getting a tattoo done (my first and last) to raise money for GRWE! My partner Pete and I have three GRWE greyhounds, two boisterous boys and an old lady. I have set up a webpage with all the details and am hoping you will all help me raise sponsorship for GRWE and the wonderful work they do!! Take care ~ Claire

Update - Claire has had her tattoo done! There's a picture of her body art on her sponsorship page on JustGiving.
