GRWE celebrates its 10th Anniversary... 2006 sees Greyhound Rescue West of England celebrate 10 years as a Registered Charity. GRWE was formed in 1991 and became a Registered Charity five years later. We operate mainly in the west of the UK, but Greyhounds come in from all over the country. In the past 12 months GRWE has homed almost 500 dogs –and this number is ever-increasing as word about our work spreads.
If you have a rescue Greyhound from GRWE then please do come along to a local event near you to have your picture taken and become part of our celebration! Please keep an eye on our web site to see how our plans for this event and many more progress. All of our events are listed on the site and those that provide an opportunity for a photograph with the ‘Bone’ will have our 10th Anniversary symbol alongside its listing! Please help us celebrate 10 years of success, your support is critical if we are to reach our targets for 2006 and continue to help retired and rescued Greyhounds across England. Bone Baton Relay... Virgin Trains kindly transported the 'Bone Baton' on the Bournemouth to Birmingham route. Our thanks to driver Darren Nolan for his help (and for the supply of sausage treats for the dogs at every station!). Virgin Train News featured the report and photos in their January/February 2007 edition, see below.
Below are some pictures captured by various supporters of the 'Bone Baton' as it passes through various events around the country. Please Note - This page only shows the most recent images from 'Baton Bone' events, to see the others - click on the 'Baton Bone' picture page link.
